Springville Center for the Arts is pleased to announce auditions for The Addams Family to be performed this summer at Gowanda’s Historic Hollywood Theater. The show is based on the creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky American family first introduced in cartoons created by Charles Addams in 1938. This dark comedy will entertain children and adults alike with its macabre yet light-hearted musical numbers and visually appealing set and costume design.

The show will be directed by retired Orchard Park High School Principal Don Wesley, who began his career teaching English and theater in Gowanda Central Schools. His early community theatre work included directing Oklahoma, Carousel, West Side Story, and Fiddler on the Roof for The Village Players summer theatre. In retirement he played Jacey Squires in The Music Man and directed The Wiz at Gowanda Central before directing The Drawer Boy, Annie, and The Music Man at Springville Center for the Arts. Recently, he also directed Into the Woods for Hamburg High School.  An associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and an avid student of acting and directing technique, he has served as an acting coach for plays and musicals at local high schools and for individual actors on request.

Auditions will be held at the Gowanda Presbyterian Church located at 64 East Main Street, Gowanda, NY 14070.  Ten-minute private audition slots will be offered Saturday, April 2nd from 8AM to 11:30AM or 1PM to 5PM, and Sunday, April 3rd from 1PM to 5PM. Interested performers can find a link to sign up as well as more details at SpringvilleArts.org.
